The website comments on the subject are highly confusing but they definitely make it sound like I cannot get the new version without buying the whole game again.

Yeah, I wanna know that, too. I don't wanna pay for that game again although I have it registered. It's total shit that you can't install it now anymore without paying again. I demand a refund or a new registry key for the new version!
